Crispy Sesame Tofu

Vegetarian food doesn’t have to be boring, you just need to spice it up a bit. This crispy sesame tofu is so delicious and very simple to make.

The trick is to let the tofu do it’s thing in the pan! Don’t move it around too much, just flip it onto it’s side and leave it until it’s golden and crispy.

Ingredients

400g extra firm tofu
3 tablespoons Corn starch
1/2 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon vegetable Oil
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons honey
2 tablespoons of Sir Racha
1 garlic clove
1/2 teaspoon rice wine vinegar

Instructions

Step 1

Place tofu on paper towel and drain until completely dry. Once dry, cut into cubes and place in a large bowl. Sprinkle on 2 tablespoons of corn starch and toss together until completely coated.

Step 2

In a large skillet, add sesame oil and vegetable oil then bring up to a medium-high heat. Once oil is hot, add the tofu and let it brown on all sides. In the meantime, finely chop the garlic clove and whisk together with all remaining ingredients to form the sauce.

Step 3

Once tofu has browned and crisped on all sides, add the sauce to the skillet and it should thicken. Toss the tofu around to coat, then remove from the heat. Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, some thinly sliced spring onions and a drizzle of Sir Racha.
